We had a wonderful first meeting. Today we talked about what it means to be living in "A Beautiful Mess" which is this year's theme. Some of the leaders shared what beautiful messes we had in our lives, and we heard an amazing message from Shauna Niequist (visit her blog HERE) on how to avoid comparing ourselves to other women and mothers.
We all have areas of our lives where our vulnerabilities make us susceptible to the comparison trap. We learned how to combat the tendancy to compete by connection. Knowing other women, and making space for us to be ourselves, shortcomings and all, is the way to true community.
It is our hope that you experienced this kind of connection already with the ladies you met today, and that these friendships grow stronger and stronger as the year goes on.
